About Our Practice
In 1972, Ken Goldblum started what is now Family Eye Care and Children’s Eye Center of New Mexico. He opened his comprehensive eye care practice with an office in a small part of our current building on Mulberry Street in Albuquerque. Dr. Goldblum wanted to provide personal and individualized eye care, so he chose to open a solo practice. For the next 33 years, his practice grew by word of mouth. His patients liked the care they got and they told their friends and relatives. He saw adults and also lots of children. His wife, Kate, is a registered nurse and began working full-time in the practice in 1975.

In 1995, Ken and Kate’s oldest son joined the practice. As a pediatric ophthalmologist, Todd Goldblum continued the tradition of providing personal, individualized care to our youngest patients. We changed our name to Goldblum Family Eye Care Center and for the next 13 years, our practice continued to grow. In fact, it grew so much we knew we had to find another pediatric ophthalmologist if we wanted to continue to offer the best care to our patients. In 2008, we finally found someone who wanted to practice the way we did. Someone who would really care about our patients while giving them the best eye care possible. Kenneth Adams joined us in August 2008 and we became Family Eye Care and Children’s Eye Center of New Mexico. We still see patients who started with us back in 1972 – and now we’re seeing the children and grandchildren of those patients.

Services Provided
The adult eye care services we provide include examinations and special testing for both medical eye problems and vision problems. Some medical eye problems we diagnose, treat, or refer include glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, retinal and macular problems, and eye injuries. We provide surgical or laser services for cataracts, selected retinal problems, glaucoma, and strabismus (crossed, wandering, or “lazy” eyes). Our practice includes contact lens fitting and instruction and we also have a full range of attractive frames for your corrective eyeglasses in our optical.

Our pediatric eye care services also include examination and special testing for medical eye problems and vision problems. Our pediatric ophthalmologists can diagnose and treat children’s eye problems such as strabismus (crossed, wandering, or “lazy” eyes), amblyopia, cataracts, retinopathy of prematurity, ptosis (drooping eyelid), eye injuries, and nasal lacrimal duct blockage. Our optician is an expert in solving the special fitting problems that children have when they need glasses. We stock a large number of attractive and functional children’s frames.
